Culture Clash

As if their new Winter 2015 exhibitions weren’t enticing enough (see our review of The Visitors at clevescene.com), MOCA’s partnering with the Cleveland Institute of Art to give you a very special reason to stop in today. At 7 p.m., the museum will host two powerful performances by Nao Bustamante and Alexis Gideon. Bustamante presents Silver & Gold, a combination of film, live performance, original “campy” costumes and audience participation. The work explores race, sexuality, glamour and film. Alexis Gideon will perform the score to his stop-motion animated opera, The Crumbling. This 21-minute performance examines the role and importance of words and symbols in our decaying, or “crumbling,” culture. Both performances are free with general admission to MOCA Cleveland.
