Coming Up Roses

An incredible amount of hype accompanied the release of the Stone Roses self-titled debut in 1989. The British fawned over the group, which was part of the burgeoning Madchester scene, and the band became hugely popular on college radio in the States. But internal conflict and a lackluster followup caused a premature break-up. The band reunited in 2012 and director Shane Meadows documents the band’s return in his film Stone Roses: Made of Stone. The movie shows tonight at 7:30 at the Capitol Theatre. Tickets are $10. (Niesel)
