A veteran of the comedy scene, Mike Lukas has spent the past twenty-two years honing his craft. Yet he still seems like a pretty nice guy. “I like to have fun with people, not make fun of them,” the 46-year-old comic tells us. A Cleveland native, Lukas graduated with honors from Dayton University with a degree in computer science — so we’re sure his parents were thrilled when he announced he was going to forgo a “real” job and pursue a career as a stand-up comic. But the dude has done all right for himself: his credits include the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, the Late Show with Conan O’Brien, and spots on Comedy Central. Nowadays, the tall, bald comic is the proud father of a two-year-old girl, with another kid on the way; no surprise that many of his current laugh lines arise from the challenges of being an older dad. (“For one thing, you need two changing tables: One for old dad and one for the new baby.”) You can chuckle along tonight beginning at 7:30; shows continue through Sunday at the Improv comedy club and restaurant on the West Bank of the Flats. Tickets are $15 to $20 online or at the box office. Learn more on the website.
