Comedy of the Absurd

A favorite of late night-talk show host David Letterman, Jake Johannsen has had a long, solid career as a standup ever since he dropped out of college in the ’80s. The tall, lanky comedian looks more like a lawyer than a comic but don’t doubt his ability to make you laugh. He’s got great comic timing and likes to joke about everything from an astronomically high electrical bill he once received to the trouble he’s had with vegetarians. His routine doesn’t usually include references to current events; rather, much like Jerry Seinfeld, he prefers to joke about everyday absurdities. He performs tonight at 8 at Hilarities and has shows scheduled through Sunday. Tickets are $23 to $25. (Niesel)
