Come Fly Away at Playhouse Square

Looking for a long, cool pour of mid-century chill? Take one big band, 14 vivacious dancers, and the legendary vocals of Frank Sinatra; shake over ice with choreography from the equally legendary Twyla Tharp; then pour into a nightclub set on a Broadway stage. That’s the recipe for Come Fly Away, a heady musical that’s made critics coo like tipsy aunties since its March 2010 debut. The touring company stops at the Palace Theatre May 8 through 20 as part of Playhouse Square’s Broadway series. Performances are set for Tuesdays through Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 1 and 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 to $77.50 at the box office, by phone, or online.
