Close Encounters

Let's be honest. You don't go see a Cirque du Soleil production because of the compelling story line. You go to see the remarkable acrobatic dancers and the incredible sets. So if the plot of Varekai sounds rather hokey, that shouldn't prevent you from attending. The plot revolves around a young boy who falls into a magical forest and encounters a range of exotic creatures. The title translates into "everywhere" and the concept is about the "nomadic soul," as it's put in a press release. The show takes place tonight at 7:30 at the Wolstein Center and performances continue through Aug. 10. Tickets start at $35. (Niesel)
