CityMusic Chamber Orchestra: Batonless Beethoven

Come to this concert and you will see...an empty podium? Yes! CityMusic Chamber Orchestra is going “democratic” with no conductor, encouraging artistic input from every player. The group “will be more like a giant chamber ensemble, where we are all in touch,” describes Concertmaster Laura Hamilton. Experience the iconic sounds of Ludwig van Beethoven’s First Symphony, plus “Starburst” by acclaimed young American composer Jessie Montgomery and two Romantic romances performed by Grammy-nominated violinist Tessa Lark. You will be drawn into Lark’s uniquely charismatic and intimate playing, and amazed at the presence and sensitivity of the conductorless orchestra.
