The latest from this wily Canadian quartet brings more of the same indie rock quirk that the band is known for to the table. Production credit on their fourth studio album, RUFF, goes to Rusty Santos, who produced the band’s first two records when he wasn’t working with acts like Animal Collective and Eric Copeland. The result: a set of songs sonically similar to their earliest work. The churning guitar melodies and soaring voice of lead singer Luke Lalonde on songs such as “Stupid Dream” and “Don’t Live Up” capture the relentless energy that has kept the band’s music interesting throughout its career.
