Blitzen Trapper/Quiet Life

Eric Early, the front man of this experimental folk quintet, called the band’s newest album All Across This Land its “most mature record,” and it’s easy to see how he reaches that conclusion given the band’s long history. Since forming in 2000, Blitzen Trapper has modified its southern sound throughout nine studio albums to include varying degrees of edginess, with it’s latest finding a comfortable home on the softer side of that spectrum. The album’s title track sounds ready-made for commercial use, featuring Early’s cooing over the thumping bass and a playful guitar riff. (DeSmit)
