Local musician Bert Stratton regularly plays with the klezmer act Yiddishe Cup but every so often, he does special shows as Klezmer Guy. For these shows, he performs as a trio that features pianist Alan Douglass and singer Tamar Gray. The group still plays some klezmer but it also dabbles in Tin Pan Alley, swing and soul. “This is a neo-beatnik jazz/prose, matzo-meets-Motown revue,” says Stratton. He jokes that he comes off like Prairie Home Companion host Garrison Keillor if he were raised on pastrami. (Jeff Niesel)
