Apollo’s Fire breaks down the barrier between art music and folk performance for its latest concert series, Glory On the Mountain: An Appalachian Journey. The concert follows the folk music of the British Isles in the 17th century over the Atlantic, into Appalachia. Created and directed by Jeannette Sorrell, Glory On the Mountain “explores the joy and sorrows of daily life among the early settlers,” illustrating their musical amalgamation with the culture of African slaves. This series features singers Amanda Powell and Ross Hauck. Tonight’s concert premieres at the Baroque Music Barn in Hunting Valley at 7:30 and will be performed in various venues until June 22. Check the website for a full concert schedule; tickets are $17 to $50. (Eric Gonzalez)
