Party people Justin Nyilas and Drew Walker are throwing a bash tonight in the Warehouse District, and everyone is invited. Starting at 7 p.m., the operators of Blkout Entertainment will be turning Liquid Sixx into a mid-century nightclub, complete with cocktails, cigarette girls, and dancing to an 18-piece big band. Tonight’s Baby Bash has been two years in the making, says Walker. “We’ve always felt a very strong pull toward the 1940s and 50s. But we always said we wouldn’t do it unless we could do it perfectly; it’s too beautiful a time period to not portray it right.” That desire for authenticity found them amassing a collection of vintage autos, decorations, and assorted props to channel the era; it also meant establishing a dress code that asks hep cats to don tuxedos and kittens to come in gowns. (Military uniforms, suits, and rockabilly getups are also killer diller.) When the band — Sophisticated Swing — packs up at 11 p.m., Nyilas slips into his DJ duds and spins until 2 a.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Find out more online.
