The Screw Factory holds its spring Artists’ Open Studio today from noon to 7 p.m. in Lakewood’s Lake Erie Building. The show features handmade crafts and practical but elegant gift-type wares from dozens of Cleveland artisans. Gina DeSantis offers elegant turquoise and black flatware for display and use. Jeweler Kathy Patton’s silver and enamel pieces look more like shells that were grown than trinkets that were made. Ryu no Sakebi’s ceramics and abstract displays draw on Japanese aesthetics. If you need a distraction for someone bored by shopping but in love with cars, the Templar Motor Car Factory Display, a micro-museum of historic automobiles, is located on the third floor. To fuel you through the all-day art-athon, Fired Up Taco Truck and Nosh Box food truck will be serving up hot meals; gelato scoopers Sweet Spot and Rosy Girl Baked Goods bring dessert. But the real Zen of the Open Studio is the charm of the artists themselves, who are so warm you’d never guess they were trying to sell you anything. Find them at 13000 Athens Ave., in Lakewood.
