Amadou & Mariam

For years, Wade Oval Wednesdays has offered a cool outdoor free concert for east siders but the Cleveland Museum of Art tonight launches a similarly themed event on the west side that should be one helluva block party. The event will feature a performance by the Mali husband and wife duo Amadou & Mariam, who’ll perform at 7:30 p.m. on the block surrounding the Transformer Station on West 29th St. The duo has Afro-pop sensibilities but also experiments with the genre in such a way that the music also appeals to indie rockers. After the concert, two films about the cosmos by contemporary artist Julia Christensen will screen on the Transformer Station lawn. Admission is free and food and drink will be available for purchase. (Jeff Niesel)
