Singer-songwriter Aimee Mann's long legacy as a singer and songwriter includes a stint with the alternative group 'Til Tuesday, a respectable solo career, and an album and tour with the Both, a band that features fellow singer-songwriter Ted Leo. The brainy Mann comes to town tonight in support of last year's Mental Illness, a melancholy set of songs that opens with the plaintive "Goose Snow Cone" and stays within the same minor-key register as Mann brings strings and piano into the mix to flesh out the ornate tunes.
