A Spoken Word Concert

At tonight, MOCA Cleveland and the East Cleveland Public Library present a very special spoken word concert by award-winning performance duo Climbing PoeTree, Alixa Garcia and Naima Penniman. Their soul-stirring performances have been featured alongside artists such as Erykah Badu, Angela Davis, Danny Glover, Alicia Keys, Sonia Sanchez, Cornel West and Saul Williams. Utilizing a combination of poetry, hip hop and multimedia theater, the duo uses their performances as tools for education, personal transformation and community organization. Tickets are $12 in advance; $15 at the door. Students and residents of East Cleveland can save $5 with their ID. (Josh Usmani)
