Comedian Michael Ian Black is a man of many talents. While he’s probably best known for doing standup (he had a terrific Comedy Central special that came out a couple of years back), he’s also written screenplays (2007’s underrated Run, Fatboy, Run) and written children’s books. Often self-deprecating (“you might know me from my show Cancelled,” he jokes), Black has a very deliberate and precise style. He doesn’t get too worked up during his routines but his jokes are so well written, you can’t fault him for having so much self-control. He performs tonight at 8 at the Grog Shop. Tickets are $20.
