Experience a one-of-a-kind musical journey where the stage comes to life—one player at a time. This concert explores the evolving nature of ensemble performance. Starting with John Corigliano’s STOMP for solo, the program builds with Schubert’s Fantasy for Violin and Piano, York Bowen’s Fantasie Quartet for Four Violas, and Shostakovich’s Two Pieces for String Octet. The evening culminates with Klengel’s Hymnus for 12 Cellos and Piazzolla’s 12 Cello Set, showcasing the full ensemble in a vibrant, rhythmically charged finale. A pre-concert talk by Oberlin College’s Music Theory Professor Brian Alegant delves into the rhythmic and structural patterns of the music.
